Job PurposeThe Service Manager is responsible for the operational delivery and day-to-day running of a six-bed supported accommodation service for looked after children and care leavers aged 16 - 17.
The postholder reports to the Registered Service Manager, who retains overall legal and regulatory accountability for the service, including Ofsted registration and compliance.
Working under delegated authority, the Service Manager acts as the operational lead for the service and is responsible for ensuring the safe, consistent and high-quality delivery of support within a small, relationship-based service.
This is a hands-on role that combines direct support work with management responsibilities. Working flexibly as part of the wider staff team, the postholder will provide clinical advice and guidance, contribute to health-related assessments and support the safe management of medication where appropriate. Key Responsibilities
Clinical Practice and Health Support
Provide professional nursing advice and guidance to residents and the wider staff team.
Support the safe management of medication in accordance with NMC standards and organisational policies.
Contribute to health-related assessments, health management plans and risk assessments where appropriate.
Monitor residents' physical and mental wellbeing and identify concerns requiring referral to appropriate healthcare professionals.
Support residents to access GP appointments, community health services, hospital appointments and specialist healthcare where appropriate.
Promote healthy lifestyles, preventative healthcare and positive wellbeing.
Ensure all nursing practice remains within the scope of professional competence and current NMC standards.
Safeguarding and Risk Management
Safeguard and promote the welfare of residents at all times.
Recognise, respond to and report safeguarding concerns in line with organisational policy and procedure.
Maintain professional boundaries and appropriate conduct at all times.
Contribute to support plans and risk assessments where health-related advice is required.

Person Specification
Essential Experience
Current NMC registration as an RNLD, RMN or RGN with an active PIN.
Experience supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs or complex support needs.
Experience working independently and exercising sound professional judgement.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
Good understanding of professional nursing practice and medication management.
Knowledge of safeguarding, the Mental Capacity Act and person-centred practice.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to build positive professional relationships.
Ability to maintain accurate clinical records and reports.

Essential Requirements
Current NMC registration with an active PIN.
